By Jingo we did it…and then the Hellbent curse strikes again……. Really, this crap is getting boring now

Hello all and my apologies for such a long time in between updates.

Yes, Hellbent did it! After a long time indisposed we went to the fabulous Rigger in Newcastle under Lyme and kicked bottom. It was a cracking night where we managed to get our Priest rocks off and show people the true meaning of the words “Priest Style Heavy Metal”. A very big thank you to the crowds who attended and to the staff of the Rigger who make us feel so welcome every time. Yeah, it was a corker and we enjoyed ourselves immensely and hopefully we’ll be back there early next year to have another go.

And what else…. the new Judas Priest album got released…and it’s freaking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And we at Hellbent HQ were mightily amazed at Redeemer of Souls… an outstanding album that I don’t think we’ve stopped playing yet. Roll on the UK tour!

But then…just as we’re on a little bit of a wave of euphoria the Hellbent curse strikes again and kicks us in our leather clad nuts…..FUCK!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! so once more we’re having to pull a gig because of unavoidable personal circumstances. May I extend our deepest apologies to the Greyhound in Beeston and the people who would have been coming on the 6th September, we again have been punched in the guts by things beyond our control. Sorry to all this effects.

Sigh, sometimes we wonder why we bother…. but not to worry, we’re made of tough stuff here and we’ll be back…

oh yes, we’ll be back!

like at the Arches In Coventry on the 24th October.

Yay!

We’re back on the road again and hitting the stage on the 28th!

After an unavoidable gigging downtime HBF are hitting the stage again. The fantastic Rigger Rock Venue in Newcastle-under-Lyme is the first in our sights. 28th June, be there for some Priest style heavy metal!

That scream!

Unless you’ve been living in a Stasis bubble where you are no longer an event in space-time but a non-event mass with a quantum probability of zero, then you’ll know Judas Priest are getting prepped up to release a new album. You’ll also know that they keep releasing teaser vids of upcoming singles off the album….

Well check out the latest one… it got our danglers rigid.

Track listing for the imminent new album

Here’s what they’re saying on the Priest website….

CLASSIC JUDAS PRIEST METAL ON THE WAY WITH THEIR 17TH ALBUM ‘REDEEMER OF SOULS’

There are only a select number of bands that have accomplished what Judas Priest has throughout their career (as well as having served as a stylistic influence on such a wide variety of bands). Soon the group – singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis – will be offering up more classic Judas Priest metal with the release of ‘Redeemer of Souls’

To be released in the US on July 15th, 2014 via Epic Records (as a standard version and a deluxe edition with five bonus tracks), ‘Redeemer of Souls’ is Judas Priest’s latest collection of epic metal – “raising the bar is consistent for us and ‘Redeemer’ hits the ground running” – it matches up perfectly to earlier Priest classics as evidenced by the album’s leadoff single ‘March of the Damned’ (“we are forging ahead, slamming the pedal to the metal!”) – the band mean business once again.

“We feel ‘Redeemer of Souls’ reinforces our passion for what we believe in from the Judas Priest style heavy metal.” The album also marks Richie Faulkner’s studio debut with Priest and is the co-writer of the material along with Glenn Tipton and Rob Halford.

First bursting onto the scene with 1974’s ‘Rocka Rolla’ Judas Priest is responsible for some of heavy metal’s all-time great albums – 1980’s ‘British Steel’, 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance’, 1990’s ‘Painkiller’ etc – and anthems ‘Breaking the Law’, ‘Living After Midnight’, ‘You’ve Got Another Thing Coming’ etc – as well as trailblazing metal’s now instantly identifiable look – leather and studs – 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the band.

And while fans are undoubtedly starved for more Priest (their last studio album ‘Nostradamus’ was released in 2008) the band themselves are eager for the world to hear their latest studio triumph. “Classic combination of all the statements we love to create with raging guitar riffs and solos, thundering drums, thick grooves of bass and vocals tearing it all up!”

I didn’t fall. The floor wanted a hug…

Hello all.

A little bit of a sad tale to tell in this update.

Our singer has damaged himself…. as regular fans/readers will know he is not a stranger to the ways of the NHS.

Flying man

During the course of a normal working day as a HGV driver Mr Wilf tripped and departed his wagon in a rather flamboyant manner.

bionic man

As has been proven before Tarmacadam road is way harder then Mr Wilf and unluckily for him as soon as he made contact with the aforementioned road it made short work of dismantling him.

Not sure about the three arms though…

ambulance

These fine bunch of people were called and attended promptly. He was scraped off the road, placed in a suitable container and taken to Hospital.

body cast

In the Hospital they did and outstanding job of putting him back together. Sure he’s acquired a few more bits of metal and wire as they re-strung his arms back on and may be he’s lost an inch or two on his right leg. But on the upside his newly installed wooden bladder is working a treat.

In all seriousness, he has hurt himself quite badly and everyone from the band wishes him a good and speedy recovery. We’re missing ya bro. Get that sorry arse of yours healed and back in that reheasal room A.S.A.P.

So, with all the above in mind, we have decided it would be prudent to postpone our show at Real Time Live in Chesterfield. Our apologies to the venue and to the fans but life does like to challenge us from time to time….Dammit!

Anyway, as soon as Hellbent is back to 100% fighting fit…..and we’re going to be coming out punching…. we’ll be down to Chesterfield and giving you the Priest style heavy metall you all so deserve.

ohh Matron, can we have some smelling salts? We’ve all gone a little giddy in here…..

Hello all and welcome to the first “proper” update of 2014.

We, that is to say Hellbent forever are currently riding high on a wave of euphoria after playing two fantastic gigs.

Firstly we have the Greyhound in Beeston. Which as usual did not disappoint in the slightest. You’ve heard it all before but it is an awesome venue, with an awesome sound guy and awesome hosts….and the audience were outstanding! And I mean Out-fucking-standing! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us that night. We’re going to be back there June-ish time..we think but we’ll keep everyone updated when details firm up.

We walked away from there with a big smile on our faces. Not only did we manage to play Freewheel Burning live for the first time we also managed to play it right. Yay! Go us! Also we got to test out some new stage kit that we’ve been playing with for a couple of weeks and I can say that it’s made a huge difference to the look of the stage.

Secondly, we have the Roadhouse in Birmingham….

Having never played this venue before there was an air of trepidation and a few odd Paarping! sounds were heard as we drove down there….. So was there anything to worry about?

Nah, not at all. It was an excellent day. A great and well used venue with friendly and very competent staff. We made lots of new friends and hope we impressed the crowd. We enjoyed it immensely down there and hope we get back down there soon to ply our trade again.

Support came from Disarm Goliath who are a bunch of very friendly and devilishly talented people. We can not stress this enough here at HBF HQ. Check out Disarm Goliath, you won’t be disappointed.

Finally, here is a link to an article written by Metal Veins….who happens to be the partner of one of the members of Hellbent … detailing her experiences as she travelled with us and did the (slightly drunk) roadie bit for us….

Nudity and “horseplay” was breaking out backstage……… Kind of sums up a gig day with Hellbent Forever.

Take care everyone and HBF will see you out there on the road… in some state of undress apparently. 🙂

A time to vote….

A cool debate…of course we voted KK and Glenn…. Dave and Adrian although epic aren’t a patch on the Priest duo.
